Stephen Daniel 'Danny' Cross

Stephen Daniel ‘Danny’ Cross, age 82, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born in Scott County, TN on April 18, 1942, to the late Harold and Maude Barnett Cross. Danny was guided by faith and love for the Lord and his church, and his family was his greatest source of pride throughout his life. Danny excelled in sports at Oneida High School and was an Eagle Scout. In 1966 he and his family opened Danny’s Drugs in Oneida, TN, and he led it through many different phases. Throughout his career, Danny served as a mentor for many local people who went on to become pharmacists. He remained a fixture in the Oneida community, including following in his father’s footsteps as a member of the Board of Directors of First National Bank. Danny was an avid golfer and traveled to many places around the world chasing after golf balls with a stick, a lifelong devotion he picked up from his mother. He was a born again Christian and served as a member of the church choir. For the past decade, he has spent his time enjoying the golf courses and lake views of Tellico Village with his dogs Charlie and Buddy.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mike.

He is survived by his children, Dawn and Mark, Cameron and Kim; grandchildren, Rachel, Seth, Cole and Kalie; wife, Sarah Dobbs Cross; brothers, David and Joe; mother of his children, Terrie J. Cross; devoted employees at the drugstore whom we consider family, and countless other friends and relatives.

After a private graveside service, his family would like to invite members of the community to join them in fellowship for a Celebration of Life at Helenwood Baptist Church on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 6 p.m. with Bro. Crestin Jeremy Burke and Bro. Kevin Sexton officiating. There will be a fellowship meal following the service at the church fellowship hall. Many thanks to the church members who have helped prepare for this special time.
