Sutton Ray Smith, Infant Obituary

Sutton Ray Smith, age 2 weeks and 6 days, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at East TN Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, TN.  Born on July 29, 2025, to Skyler and Jayden Nicole Carson Smith, Sutton was a light to everyone who knew him. He brought joy and happiness to our hearts. He was so loved by so many. He was gone too soon and was too perfect for this world.  We find comfort in knowing he is in the arms of Jesus. This is not good-bye, but see you again in Heaven.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents:  Roscoe and Clara Anderson, Earl and Ruby Carson and Gladys; Gma:  Nancy Monte; uncle:  DJ; cousins:  Wrenley Carson and Darry Smith; and aunt:  Deanna Pierce.

In addition to his parents, Sutton is survived by his sister:  Everleigh Smith; grandparents:  Allen and Diane Carson, and Deon Smith and Kristie; uncles:  Kyle Smith, Caden Carson, Brandon Carson and wife Shaylynn Carson, and Troy Webb; aunts:  Lydia Carson, Tonya West, Sophia, Isabella, and Emily Smith, and Kenzie Reindelt and husband Gabriel; special great aunts:  Regina, Jarnigan and husband Michael, and Ada Byrd and husband Ledford; special cousins:  Tianne Harness and husband Chris, Mia Smith, Kaprecia Massengale and husband Jordan; special friends:  Katherine Allen and husband Donavan, and Ashley Gibbs; and a host of other family members and friends.

One thing we want to recognize is the timing of his death at 3:16 a.m., which we as parents thought of John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

A private graveside will be held at the John Freeman Sexton Cemetery.
