Wanda (Terry) Stanley

Wanda Terry Stanley, 82, died January 5th, 2022, at her home in Florida. She was born September 28, 1939, in Oneida, TN, the daughter of Miles and Dorothy Terry. 

Wanda graduated from Oneida High School. She married James Stanley in 1965 and they were together for 56 years. She received her teaching degree from Cumberland College and a master’s degree from Indiana University. She taught special education for seven years in Scott County, TN, then third grade for 36 years in Mooresville, IN. Education was truly her passion, and she loved every one of her students. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stanley is preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Ruth Terry and brothers, Arthur Terry and his wife Opal, Jody Terry, and Phillip Terry. 

Surviving immediate family members, in addition to her husband, James Stanley, include her sisters, Bertha Lay and husband Amon, Joyce Watson and husband John, and Sharon Cordell; brothers, Tony Terry, Robbie Terry and wife Teresa, as well as many nieces, nephews, other family member and friends. 

Wanda was a life-long Christian, and her Baptist faith was a cornerstone in her life. She loved the Lord, and she lived her faith every day.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 11 a.m. until time a service of remembrance at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Oneida, TN, with Bro. Kevin Terry and Dr. Sean Lee officiating.

Burial will follow at the Leatherwood Cemetery in Oneida. Wanda’s nephews will serve as Pallbearers.
