Wanda Janive Sexton Obituary

Wanda Janive Sexton (née Summers), 86, of Robbins, TN, was called home by her Lord and Savior on September 15, 2022, after an extended illness. Born August 1, 1936, in Harlan, Kentucky to Granville and Mazie (née Smith) Summers, the younger sibling to Kenneth Summers, Janive was an intelligent child. Her love for knowledge would follow her into adulthood as she was an avid reader of novels and the Holy Bible.

Janive graduated from Sunbright High School in 1954. Shortly after, on April 7, 1955, she married Hulen Sexton. Hulen and Janive bore six children, who are left to cherish the memory of their mother; Janet Lynn Herzog, Patricia Ann (Kevin) Lockhart, Darrell Hulen (fiancé Denise Godwin) Sexton, Teresa Gail Sexton, Norma Jean Avery, Rebecca Sue (Vernon) Ford. Janive had 14 grandchildren, all of whom loved their grandmother dearly and will remember her fondly; Michael (Kim) Ragan, Nicole Hines, Jeremy (Jollice Maldanaro) Wegner, Shawn Avery, Brittany Lockhart, Kiel Sexton, Brandon (Crystal Grimstead) Ford, Jennifer (Michael) Newton, Aren (Ryan) Cross, Justin Avery, Clay Sexton, Lauren Sexton, Erika Avery and Bridget Sexton. She also had several great grandchildren that lovingly called her “Grandma B.” She will be missed by many other special friends and family members.

After raising her children, Janive worked several years. She attended Community Chapel Church in Robbins, TN and was very active in the church as her health would allow. Janive was always open for an adventure. She loved to travel and dreamed of having a home in the Smokey Mountains one day. Her favorite vacations involved trips to Disney World. She loved to play any type of board and word games with her family. Along with crocheting, she knitted and loved to be outdoors. In nature is where she felt most at peace. Janive will certainly be remembered for her loving and caring nature. She was a selfless person, who would help anyone. Her laughter was contagious, and her smile would light up a room. Most of all she will be remembered for her love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Janive was proceeded in death by her parents, brother, husband, and granddaughter Brittany Lockhart.
