Wanda Massengale Banks Newport

Wanda Massengale Banks Newport left this earthly life to be in eternity with her heavenly father on November 22, 2023. Born November 15, 1940, to the late Elmer and Clemmie Massengale, she lived her life surrounded in love, laughter, and family. She was a member of the Byrges Creek United Baptist Church and a member of the Massengale Family Singing Group.

Along with her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband Ben Newport. 1st husband Ernest Banks and children Jimmy Banks and Missy Banks Gibson, granddaughter Katie Beth Yarbrough, infant grandson Caleb Gibson, Brother Donald Massengale, Sisters Dorothy Kimble, Maude Morris, Infant sister Fonshu, and son-in-law Joseph Reeder.

She will be mourned by her daughters Lisa Banks, Patty (Jason) Jeffers, Rebecca Tye, Annie (Joey) York, Lora Lay. Her grandchildren Jessica Norfleet, Rachel Chesney, Samuel Smith, Lexi Bruce, JR Bruce, Jessica Shipwash, Savannah York, Allison Chambers, Jackie Tye, Kara Brown, Ben Gibson, Canaan Lay, Clairee Lay. 11 great grandchildren. Five sisters Faye (the late Elsie) Estep, Flonnie (Harold) Daugherty, Linda Day, Lorene (Ronnie) Day, Beatrice (the late Delford) Lowe and two brothers Dillard Massengale and Ronald (Denise) Massengale. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Friends may visit with the Newport family on Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 12 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Buffalo United Baptist Church in Winona with Bro. Dudley Harness and Bro. Gary Griffith officiating. Music will be provided by Amber Norman and Jerry Day.

Committal service will follow in the William Newport Cemetery. Pallbearers: Canaan Lay, Samuel Smith, Jonathan Massengale, Justin Massengale, Chris Newport, Dawson Lowe.

Honorary Pallbearers: J.R. Bruce, Jason Jeffers, Joey York, and Jagger Keeling.
