Zachariah "Trae" Sexton, age 15 of Oneida, TN went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 3:25 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024, at East Tennessee Children's Hospital in Knoxville, TN. Trae was saved on January 10, 2024, and baptized into his family church at Paint Rock on February 4, 2024. Trae was born on June 2, 2009, at Scott County Hospital in Oneida, TN to Matthew Trae Sexton and Sarah Minnie Boyatt Sexton.
Trae loved to be around people and watch them laugh so he could laugh with them. He loved to watch sports and play baseball! He enjoyed playing electronics, listening to music, having cookouts, playing board games, mud riding, fishing, and swimming with his family and friends. He is loved by family, church family, and friends more than words!
Trae had a very big heart for others. Trae would be proud to help someone. He was an organ donor and was able to give his heart, liver, and both kidneys to save four lives.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Les and Vivian Sexton; great grandparents, Cornelius and Vilda Sexton, AV and Cloretta Phillips, B.D. and Geraldine Boyatt, Frazier and Betty Goad; great aunt, Rose Marie (Kelo) Sexton and cousins, Skylar Lane and Corban Goad.
Trae is survived by his parents, Matthew and Sarah Sexton; sisters, Amelia Brae and Avian Larae Sexton; grandparents, Jeff and Chrissie Boyatt; uncles, Craig and wife Tamera Sexton and Eli Boyatt; cousins, Hunter and Jaxon; many other uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members and friends.
Everyone may visit with the Sexton family on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 5 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. at Paint Rock Baptist Church with his pastor Bro. Dean Barnes and his coach Bro. Devon Rose officiating. Music will be provided by the Paint Rock choir.
Committal service will be on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Foster Crossroads Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Marc Barnes, Josh Barnes, Daron Roberts, Zane Roberts, Collin Kidd, Eli Boyatt, Jonathan Boyatt, Hunter Sexton, and Jaxon Sexton. Honorary pallbearers will be: Craig Sexton and Jody Ryan. Trae is a UT VOL for life and loved his school with the Oneida Indians. Go Big Orange! His favorite color was orange, and if you would like to honor Trae by wearing UT, Oneida Indians, or orange, please do so.
