Chester A. Sexton

July 4, 1929 ~ March 3, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Chester Sexton, age 87, of Pioneer, Tennessee passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017 at his home. Chester was born to the late Harvey Sexton and Nannie Bell Lay Sexton and was retired from the Scott County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of the Oneida Church of God.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sexton is preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Kaye Sexton; grandson, Brett Davidson; granddaughter, Crystal Lynn Griffith; sisters, Sarah Fay Slaven, Dora Posey, Bell Cross, Betty Bullock, May Jeffers, and Flora Slay; brothers, James Sexton, Monroe Sexton, and Roger Sexton.

He survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara Sexton; daughters, Linda Lenick, Sandra Mays and husband, Mitchell, Brenda Sexton, and Christine Jeffers and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Billy Joe Griffith and wife, Kiley, Lucas Ellis and wife, Emily, Erica Cooper and husband, Ben, Amber Ellis, Jessica Phillips, and Matthew Blakely; sister, Mary Lou Spry; 12 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Tim Smith and his staff, Quality Home Health, and Quality Hospice.

Friends may visit with the Sexton family on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 6 pm until time of funeral service at 8 pm in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Melvin Stephens and Bro. Sammy Yancey officiating. Music will be provided by Sis. Sarah Byrd and Sis. Janet Yancey.

Graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 11 am in the Scott County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Griffith, Lucas Ellis, Mitchell Mays, Ben Cooper, Gary Leech, and Bud Leech.

West-Murley Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Chester Sexton.
