Minnie Marie Byrd, age 94 of the Mill Branch Community of Huntsville, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the home of her son Leslie Byrd in Oneida, Tennessee.

Minnie was born June 21, 1922 in Smokey Junction, Tennessee.  She was a member of the Mill Branch Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Celia Cross; husband Rev. Leon Byrd; sister Maudie Lowe and husband Roland; grandsons: Michael Byrd and Darrin Byrd; great grandsons: Zachary Byrd and Logan Strunk.

Survived by her children, Von Byrd of Mill Branch, Tom Byrd and wife Billie of Medway, OH, Leslie Byrd of Oneida, Chester Byrd and wife Jolene of Cincinnati, OH, Gary Byrd and wife Sheila of Annadell, Lela Washam and husband John of Amherst, OH, and Reeda Byrd of Mill Branch; grandchildren, Jeff Byrd, Connie Strunk and husband Steve, Jamie Byrd, Mark Byrd, Greg Byrd and wife Jacklyn, John Byrd, Darrell Byrd and wife Amy, Sandra Pletz and husband Eric, Tommy Byrd and wife Lacy, Johnny Washam, Velinda Bischoff and husband Rob; step-grandsons, Gene Wright and Dale Hull; great-grandchildren, Scott Byrd, Brooke Byrd, Kelly Sexton, Ashley Walton and husband Michael, Jim Byrd, Calla Byrd, Gregory Byrd, Emily Byrd,  Alexis Orick and husband Cody, Julian Pletz, Corinne Pletz, Grayson Pletz, Sierra Byrd, Trestin Byrd, Brandon Stanton, Brady Stanton, Derek Bischoff and step-great grandchildren, Whitney Strunk, Nash Strunk and wife, Kendra, and Nicolette Bush; 2nd great-grandchildren, Amber Byrd, Jeremy Byrd, Noah Goodman, Khloe Walton, Carson Byrd, Kennedy Byrd, Colton Orick and Reagan Stanton; step 2nd great-granddaughter, Kaleigh Walton; many other relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the Byrd family on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 6 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Watson and Bro. Larry Sexton officiating.  Music will be provided by George Byrd and Linda Day and Jimmy and Sarah Byrd.

Graveside service will be on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Rev. Leon Byrd Cemetery in the Mill Branch Community.  Pallbearers will be family and friends.
